I've been listening to a lot of awesome music lately. Most of it's new to my little ears. So I thought I'd share some:
1) Bon Iver
2) Beirut
3) Grizzly Bear
4) City and Colour
5) Explosions in the Sky
6) Fela Kuti
7) Phoenix
Check 'em out if you need some new iPod jams.

Work It. Work It.
Where have you been, young lady?
Oh wow I'm pretty embarrassed about sort of abandoning this thing. It's really because I'm lazy. And i hate that. So I'm at work right now and should be working but it's rainy and cold outside and most of the office is at an in-house conference, so I've decided to do this instead. I've got the White Stripes singing in my ears, slippers on my feet, and i'm still full from lunch but I really wish i was at home doing this. Now, what's new?
Update on a business venture that has slowly been in the works for some time now with my friend, Emily. We're starting up a little freelance design biz called Peachy (cute, huh?!). We'd like to focus on designing custom invites for weddings, etc. but for now have been taking any design project that comes our way. Mostly logo stuff. A couple pro-bono jobs for friends. ooh and even a cool layout for Dege Legg's new solo album! A Peachy logo is in progress and big plans are written in sketchbooks, so it's just a matter of turning this thing into reality! We're getting there :)
I'll post some of the things we've created recently. Don't have the files in my dropbox so I'll have to wait til i get home. Wonder if anyone would notice me sneaking out of the office early...

Yard Renovation Update
the slow progression of our back 'yard' into an actual place where you can spend time (other than killing poison ivy) has not moved forward very much. in fact, it hasn't improved at all : (
i did warn that it would be a very slow process, but even i didn't anticipate it taking this long to get something started back there.
our first goal is to rebuild the back fence that borders the home of three pit bulls. this is necessary to even feel safe in our own yard. hopefully the new fence will also serve as somewhat of a barrier to the smell of those poor dogs' home.
second on the remodel agenda is building a patio/gazebo of some sort. of course i can visualize how it should look, but turning that image into reality is a whole other story. and let's not forget that hurricane season is creeping up on us (or has it already officially began?). ahhhh! in case you didn't get to witness what happened last year to our poor little yard, i've posted some pics of the disaster we came home to after that bastard, Gustav, visited. (see below)
now, after we've completed goals 1 and 2, we'll be home free and any other improvements we want to make should be fairly easy (fingers crossed). oh, if anyone would like to lend their fence-building expertise to help us one afternoon (or any boyfriends or husbands), we'd really appreciate it!! we will feed you and pay you for your generosity (in compliments, of course).
wish us luck!

Pretty Orange Roses

i've been looking at a lot of wedding websites lately for inspiration (for a little business venture my friend Emily and i are planning). and i really like when these blogs/websites post photo 'pages' of a particular wedding or theme. so, since our 1 year wedding anniversary is next month, i thought i'd put together some shots of our special night (aww).
now, if i can only stop being a pro at procrastinating and print those damn things! yes, i know, it's quite ridiculous that i haven't printed all of our photos yet. i really have no excuse, too.
